Tattoos As i see it
An educational seminar by featured artist Jeff Gogue
SATURDAY, MAY 19, 2018, 9:30 AM-12PM.
After 18 years of professional tattooing and achieving worldwide recognition and respect among the tattoo community, Jeff has developed a revolutionary approach to tattooing. Gogue’s focus on large scale tattoo projects and full coverage tattooing has brought him an esoteric understanding of the role of tattooers in the lives of their clients. In an intensely revealing presentation. Jeff folds personal insights, practical techniques and spiritual aspects into one powerful experience that helps to crystalize a new level of understanding for the audience.
The seminar examines the artist’s personal journey in tattooing, from the acquisition of basic skills to the achievement of long-term goals, shares highly effective daily routines, teaches the importance of relating to and serving clients, and ultimately provides a deeper understanding of oneself and the enormous role of the artist in the lives of the people they tattoo.
Jeff is proud to be attending and speaking at Tattoo The Lou in May 2018.
Guy Aitchison Contrast: The Backbone of a Tattoo
SUNDAY, MAY 20, 2018, 10AM-12PM
Guy Aitchison has been teaching seminars to tattoo artists since 1993, in the process fine-tuning his approach to give artists the most bang for their buck. In his newest workshop, Contrast: The Backbone of a Tattoo, Guy begins by going over a broad range of theory and practical ways of increasing the impact of your work, using still images and video from not only his own studio but also including work by a variety of top artists working in different styles. This will be followed by a hands-on workshop for participants, giving them a chance to put these ideas to work right away in order to see how to incorporate them into a day-to-day tattooing practice. Intended for professional tattoo artists of all levels of experience.

A Dave Koenig Seminar

Are you the type of painter/Tattooer who truly believes in not only the technical form of the craftsmanship but also in the principles of creation? If so, keep Dave Koenig’s seminar in mind.
“We are responsible for art. We learn the arts of creation and maintaining the traditions of our industry and craft. We fight for it. Through individual growth and education accompanied with relationships we help the evolution of the arts and create a legacy far greater than any single accomplishment of our own. We may not all agree with one another but we are all cut from the same cloth. It is our duty to create, grind, inspire, be inspired, grow as individuals and as a culture together. Help evolve the art. Be profound or be forgotten.”
Dave Koenig has been tattooing since 2001 and has proven himself to be a prolific painter as well. His art has been exhibited at tattoo conventions, festivals and art galleries throughout the United States and abroad.
Working with a wide range of mediums from ink and water color to large scale acrylic, Dave maintains a controlled looseness of line work and a delicate treatment of color. Although heavily influenced by Japan’s historic culture and use of patterns, his work also reflects the imagery and antiquity of both American Traditional and Art Nouveau.
Dave has worked as a curator for several art shows featuring fellow tattooers. His imagery and art have appeared as the primary artwork for both national and international conventions, several t-shirt companies, concert posters and album covers, skateboards, mixed martial arts event posters, as well as, all artwork and branding for various liquor labels.
“I intend to not only share my technical methods but more importantly the love and commitment to the process. That through the process of training your skills on a subconscious level will alleviate artists blocks and over time allow you to develop your own personal style and through purpose and personal growth as artists and as a culture, we can be the very definition of success.”
We look forward to Dave’s seminar, please let us know if you have any questions!
